About the event

For Adult Adoptees

In this most challenging time, being home 24/7 can be difficult; emotionally, and psychologically.

Especially when you have experienced early separation trauma, have lifelong questions, and do the constant "adoptee-xplaining" 24/7 because "people just don't understand" what WE GO THROUGH.

Yes, WE!

With over 38 years of experience combined, Jeanette and Hillary are both Adoptees & Adoption Professionals! They get it!

We do need mental health support. We are more vulnerable, and more at risk of health factors throughout our lives.

Jeanette and Hillary want to support your mental health needs as it connects to adoption.

You will walk away with 6 INSIGHTS & TOOLS you can apply right after you leave the training!

Now more than ever is a moment in time when you have an opportunity to gain new skills, put practices to the test, take SELF-RESPONSIBILITY, GROW TRUE GRIT, and be inspired to become more Adoption Competent. YES, YOU CAN DO IT!

Tough times call for TOUGH PEOPLE!

You are reading this, NOT BY MISTAKE.

Join us to build our strengths and vulnerabilities together!

Jeanette Yoffe M.F.T. earned her Masters in Clinical Psychology, specializing in adoption and foster care, from Antioch University in June of 2002. She treats children, teens, and adults with serious psychological problems secondary to histories of abuse, neglect, and /or multiple placements. She has specialized for the past 18 years in the treatment of children, teens who manifest serious deficits in their emotional, cognitive, and behavioral development. She is the Founder of Celia Center Inc, a non-profit organization in Los Angeles supporting all members of the foster care and adoption constellation. Jeanette’s desire to become a child therapist with a special focus on adopted and foster care issues derived from her own experience of being adopted and moving through the foster care system. Her personal experience has informed her education and provided insight into the unique stresses involved with these issues.

In 2019 she published a one-woman show she performed in 2000 titled "What's Your Name, Who's Your Daddy?" It is available on Amazon and is recorded on Audible. This is a great resource for families, support groups, and agencies to listen and understand the chid's point of view about growing up in foster care and adoption. During her five years as a professional social worker and therapist, Jeanette developed a series of groundbreaking interventions for working with foster and adopted children and currently presents creative workshops for parents as well as therapists and social workers in Los Angeles, at the 2005 Child Welfare League Conference and 2012 DCFS Conference. She has published a book, GROUNDBREAKING INTERVENTIONS: WORKING WITH TRAUMATIZED CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN FOSTER CARE AND ADOPTION. This book contains structured treatment activities, the goals of treatment, materials needed, and the “how to approach” for each methodology. A must-have intervention book for all professionals and parents working with children in foster care and adoption!

Hillary Wilson M.F.T. earned her Masters in Clinical Psychology. She has over 22 years of experience in the field of counseling and has been licensed since 1999. She has a private practice in the Torrance/Palos Verdes area.

Hillary started working as a volunteer para-professional counselor in 1992 at the San Fernando Valley Counseling Center. After writing her master’s thesis on adoption, she developed a specialty in adoption. Hillary's desire to become a therapist with a special focus on adoption derived from her own experience of being adopted.

She facilitated adoption support groups for over 7 years at the Stephen S. Wise Adoption Support Center in Bel Air where she worked under the supervision of Dr. Stephanie Siegel, author of Parenting Your Adopted Child. She later became the Assistant Director of the center. She also gained experience as a supervisor of social workers at an adoption agency.

She has now been in private practice in the South Bay since 2002. She is focused on helping families with young children and adoptive families. She works with families and children of all ages and offers Parenting Classes in her office as well as in the community. Hillary facilitates ongoing monthly Adoption Support Groups for parents. As an adult adoptee, she understands the adoptive family themes personally and professionally.
